Summer is getting hotter this year… metaphorically and literally, for Nvidians. As you know Nvidia’s GTX280/260 are coming out in July, according to the report they’ll be running hotter than your current 8800ultra and drink up more juice than your quad core proc. On the other hand, ATI seems to be doing everything right for this round. The 4800 series slated for this month runs cooler, more efficient and according to those “leaked” benchmark they are almost 2 times faster than current 9800gtx. Nothing is conclusive for now so we’ll have to wait for the retail product to be reviewed, before we decide who wins our hard earned cash.
On the CPU end, Intel is still kicking a$$ with their Core 2 lineup, but AMD is still lurking around with their Phenom being more efficient when it comes to performance per watt. Going green seems to be the theme around the globe and that should help AMD stay in the market while they’re plotting their next strike. Beware though, Intel’s Nehalem, the new proc is coming end of this year (supposedly). Comes with integrated memory controller much like AMD’s so time to really say bye to FSB? Though, it will only support the UBER EXPENSIVE DDR3 so I don’t see myself waiting for it, I’m leaning towards getting a Core2Quad with 8gb of DDR2 800, that should last me a few good years 1 COMMENTS
