By now I’m sure all of you know about the earthquake in Taiwan broke the 6 submarine fibre cables, worse thing is, one of TMNET’s main international backbone goes through there too. So StreamyX users are having a hard time now crawling through the net, you can only imagine how hard is it for me to finally get on the site and post something. As for MMORPGers … say goodbye to your alternate lifestyle, I just love what EnGadget says about us WoWers in Asia.
In the meantime, I dug out my old dial-up modem, dial into my old TimeNet account, login WoW, just to clear my mailbox in game before it’s lost lol. TimeNet actually uses different backbone, I think Maxis too. PenangFon on the other hand uses the same line thus having the same problem. Oh ya, Maxis broadband is making its appearance in Penang. It could be a good alternate ISP, especially if you rely on the internet to work. Idea is having both at the same time, since they uses different backbone, your work would still go smooth if one goes down (like now !!). Read the fine print though, Maxis limits users to only 3GB of data, upload and download combined, per month. That would automatically write off alot of potential client, I mean look, for people like me, 3GB is like less than 1 week of work. Oh well, let’s hope they change their stance on that.
