Dell has confirmed as to having plans to continue selling Windows XP to its customers beyond the end of June. This is possible thanks to a loophole in Vista Business and Vista Ultimate licensing which allows PC makers to provide XP under the Vista license (Microsoft calls this a “downgrade” license). Users are actually buying a Vista license for an XP, while Microsoft claims it as a Vista sale.

OK, in principle, this just doesn’t seem all very right. But the heck with it, if it’ll keep the XP alive longer (at least until the new Windows arrives in 2010 or so) then so be it - Microsoft can go ahead and beef up their Vista sales data as much as they like! Full details at PC World.
